Every year, Toulouse Game Show welcomes thousands of excited visitors. But once inside, the experience can feel more like a survival game: confusing layouts, scattered schedules, and near-impossible group coordination. This app set out to defeat four recurring “mini-bosses”:

A map that’s more maze than guide
Between zones, halls, and themes, finding your way feels like a challenge mode. A clear, filterable, mobile-friendly map was long overdue.

Planning your day shouldn't require spreadsheets
With panels, signings, shopping and queues, building a plan quickly becomes overwhelming. The app needed to offer a smooth, flexible way to organize your visit — without the mental load.

Staying together shouldn’t rely on luck
Finding friends in a crowd shouldn’t feel like hunting shiny Pokémon. We needed light tools to make group coordination simple and stress-free.

From "that looks cool" to "I'm heading there" — fast
The challenge : not to tone it down, but to channel it.
Keep the fun, remove the friction.

The TGS brand is loud, proud, and full of pop culture flair — saturated colors, geeky references, and plenty of energy. The vibe is great. The usability? Less so.
Typography is inconsistent, visual hierarchy is weak, and contrast issues make readability a struggle. The design works well for posters and social media — not so much for digital interfaces.

The goal wasn’t to polish away the identity, it was to give it structure. The visual universe of TGS deserved to live in the app, but in a way that served the user experience, not worked against it.

From the start, the goal wasn’t to build “just another event app,” but to create a true companion for visitors — something that could guide, orient, and ease the TGS experience at every turn.
Every interface decision was made in direct response to real, observed pain points.

Instead of a huge, scrollable floor plan, the app introduces navigation by theme: Pop Culture, Japan, Gaming, etc.
Each theme leads to a focused, interactive mini-map, complete with stand listings and a “View on Map” button directly accessible from each item.

The schedule was redesigned as a flexible, user-friendly tool, not a static list:
Highlighted key events on the homepage
Clear, multi-criteria filters (location, theme, type, free/paid)
Frictionless selection and personalization

A simple group member list allows you to locate or call friends on demand — no overloaded live map.
More importantly, a “Need Help / Can Help” system lets users request or offer assistance in real time.
Whether lost, low on battery, or just needing support, users can reach out — and others can respond.

More than a schedule or a map, this app was designed as a real companion for visitors. My approach was to consistently put myself in their shoes, listen to their frustrations, and turn them into simple, intuitive interactions.
Every design decision — from navigation logic to group coordination — was made with one goal: lighten the mental load, streamline the experience, and help people enjoy the event, not fight their way through it.
The result ?
An app that works smoothly because it’s grounded in reality — and because it respects what people actually come to a convention for… without getting in their way.
